Klassic Strawfly Returns in Albuquerque's First Moonflash Maturity

The 10-year-old gelding drew post 4 for Sunday's 440-yard, $75,000-added stakes.


Albuquerque Downs will host the inaugural running of the First Moonflash Maturity on Sunday.

Yaneth Cabrera’s Klassic Strawfly drew post 4 for Sunday’s inaugural running of the 440-yard, $75,000-added First Moonflash Maturity (R) for New Mexico-bred aged sprinters at Albuquerque Downs.

A 10-year-old son of Genuine Strawfly trained by Ron Stephens, Klassic Strawfly has earned $52,780 from five starts this season, and his four wins include a 1 1/2-length score in the May 27, 400-yard Jimmy Drake Stakes (R) at SunRay Park.

Klassic Strawfly will be ridden by Isaias Cardenas.

Stephens will also send out Fire Stones for owner Armando Medina Jr. A 5-year-old Brookstone Bay gelding, Fire Stones has won two of his three starts since he was claimed for $12,500 on November 7, 2015.

Fire Stones drew post 5 and will be ridden by J. Martin Bourdieu.
