A field of eight distaffers has been entered in Saturday's Denim N Diamonds Handicap at Los Alamitos.

Abigail Kawananakoa’s A Goddess Thru Fire will make her first start in nearly seven months in Saturday’s 350-yard, $25,000 Denim N Diamonds Handicap for fillies and mares at Los Alamitos.

A homebred 4-year-old daughter of Walk Thru Fire trained by Paul Jones, A Goddess Thru Fire has earned $104,109 from 10 starts, all at Los Alamitos, and her four wins include a three-quarter length score in the 2014 Corona Chick Handicap.

A Goddess Thru Fire had surgery after her most recent race, the Jens L. List Memorial California Breeders’ Stakes on July 25.

“She needed some time off, but the (surgery) was minor,” said Jones.

A Goddess Thru Fire’s seven opponents in the Denim N Diamonds Handicap include Ed Allred’s Blabber, a homebred 4-year-old mare by Kiddy Up trained by Scott Willoughby. During her sophomore season, Blabber put together a three-race win streak that included a wire-to-wire, 1 1/2-length victory in the 350-yard, $25,000 California Breeders’ Debutante Stakes (R).
