Gillespie Meet Opens with Hill Country Classic

Stakes winner Jumpn Streak draws post 8 for the 440-yard, $15,000 stakes on Saturday.

The Gillespie County Fair in Fredericksburg, Texas, opens its 2016 mixed-breed meet on Saturday.

Ovidio M. Sandoval’s Jumpn Streak, a gray 4-year-old son of Jumpn Chic, is one of 10 sprinters entered in Saturday’s 440-yard, $15,000 Hill Country Classic Stakes on Saturday, opening day of the Gillespie County Fair meet.

Jumpn Streak will be making his first start since May 7, when the gelding ran sixth, 5 1/2 lengths behind winner Jessies First Down, in the 440-yard, $50,000 Sam Houston Classic Stakes (G2) at Sam Houston Race Park. His season resume includes a wire-to-wire, 1 3/4-length victory in the 400-yard, $25,000 Streakin La Jolla Stakes at Louisiana Downs on March 20.

Jumpn Streak drew post 8 and will be ridden by Santos Carrizales for trainer Josue Ponce.
