Bella Vista Farms LLC’s BV Midnite Express, a homebred son of Freighttrain B, will look to get back on the winning track in Sunday’s 400-yard Heritage Place Derby (G2) trials at Remington Park.

BV Midnite Express is coming off of a third-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind 2015 champion 2-year-old Jess Candy, in the 350-yard, $70,000 Mr Master Bug Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-breds on April 24. The gelding has won five of nine starts and has earned $766,923, and his three wins in five outs at Remington include a half-length victory in last year’s $1.17-million Heritage Place Futurity (G1).

Russel Hadley will ride BV Midnite Express from post 6 in the third of seven trials.

Tom Lepic’s The Fiscal Cliff, a homebred Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt trained by Kasey Willis, brings a record of six wins in eight races into the second heat. The winner of last year’s $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Remington, The Fiscal Cliff won all four of his starts at Prairie Meadows last season, including the Iowa Double Gold (R) and Jim Bader (R) futurities.

Cesar Gomez has been named to ride The Fiscal Cliff from post 5.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $100,000-added Heritage Place Derby final on June 4.
