Fourteen Indiana-Bred Sophomores Entered in Harley Greene Derby Trials

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the June 4 final at Indiana Grand.

Fourteen state-bred 3-year-olds have been entered in Friday's Harley Greene Derby trials at Indiana Grand.

My Louisiana Rod, a multiple stakes winning daughter of La Jollaroid owned and trained by Randy Smith, is one of 14 state-bred 3-year-olds entered in Friday’s Harley Greene Derby (R) trials at Indiana Grand.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Friday’s two 350-yard heats will meet in the $75,000-added Harley Greene Derby final on June 4, the first of Indiana Grand’s six all-Quarter Horse dates.

My Louisiana Rod will be making her season debut from post 2 in the first trial. The filly is coming off of a juvenile campaign during which she earned $126,833 from five starts, and her three wins included a one-length victory in the 350-yard, $164,000 Indiana Stallion Futurity (R) on September 12.

Berkley Packer will ride My Louisiana Rod in Friday’s trials. Smith will also send out Sheri Miller’s Megatron Harry, a stakes-winning gelding by Escondido Beach, in the first heat. Megatron Harry began his 2-year-old season with a three-race win streak that included a head score in the 300-yard, $199,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity (R) on the Fourth of July.

Rodney Prescott will ride Megatron Harry from the rail post.
