Major Moonflash to Make Season Debut in Jimmy Drake Stakes

The 4-year-old son of champion First Moonflash goes for his second career stakes win Friday at SunRay Park.

Major Moonflash, a graded stakes winning son of champion First Moonflash racing for Pierre and Leslie Amestoy of Albuquerque, will make his 4-year-old debut in Friday’s 400-yard, $30,000 Jimmy Drake Stakes (RG3) at SunRay Park.

The 2-1 morning-line favorite, Major Moonflash is coming off of a sophomore campaign during which he earned $199,481 from 12 starts and scored a one-length victory as the 2-1 favorite in the 440-yard, $178,000 New Mexico Cup Derby (RG2) at Zia Park. J. Martin Bourdieu will ride the gelding from post 4 for trainer Jill Giles.
