TF Cajun Cartel, a graded stakes winning 4-year-old Corona Cartel stallion racing for the Cajun Partnership, is the 3-1 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s 400-yard, $50,000 Lovington Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.

TF Cajun Cartel will be making his first start since September 4, when he ran third, 2 1/2 lengths behind winner Zoomin Effortlessly, in the 440-yard, $200,000 All American Gold Cup (G1) at Ruidoso Downs. The gelding’s season resume includes a one-length victory in the 300-yard, $50,000 Bob Moore Memorial Stakes (G2) at Remington Park on April 23.

TF Cajun Cartel drew post 5 and will be ridden by Ruben Calderon for trainer Fernando Carrete.

Other contenders include Bp Hit The Bigtime, a 5-year-old Cartel Success gelding trained by Joaquin Lopez for Top Roustabouts and Backhoe Service. The winner of last year’s Lovington Stakes, Bp Hit The Bigtime made his season debut with a third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Toshi Yoshi, in the 350-yard, $50,000 James Isaac Hobbs Stakes (G3) on September 18.

Bp Hit The Bigtime drew post 6 and will be ridden by Jesse Levario.
