The 2-year-old races begin Friday at Los Alamitos.

The 2-year-olds are here! A total of 28 juvenile sprinters will compete in four races as part of Friday night’s racing program at Los Alamitos Race Course. First post is 7 p.m.

Seven 2-year-olds will take part in each of the four events including Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity hopefuls Valiant Nights, New Hot Look, Jessadeluxe, Annas Babe Foose, Ashley Madison, Kindigit, Foose Jenner, Be Quiet, Smokin Cartel, Off The Fence and Unblemished.

Valiant Nights will headline the first juvenile race of the season, a 300-yard dash which is carded as the evening’s third race. Owned by Denny Boer and trained by Lin Melton, Valiant Nights has been a headliner on both mornings that he worked out of the gate. The gelding by Valiant Hero posted the the third fastest of 47 drills when he worked 220 yards in :12.40 on March 11. He came back with an even sharper :12.20 drill on March 25, the second fastest of 49 drills on that morning. Valiant Nights’ dam is Shyann Cash, the winner of the 2003 California Breeders Freshman Stakes and third place finisher in that year’s Kindergarten Futurity. Ed Allred’s New Hot Look will aso see action in that trial. He posted the second fastest of 32 drills when going in :12.50 on March 4 and the seventh fastet of 47 drills on March 14.

EG High Desert Farms’ Jessadeluxe heads the second juvenile race, which is the fourth race of the night. Trained by Yanet Rodriguez, Jessadeluxe is a full sister to 2013 All American Futurity runner-up Reagal Eagle. Bred by Grant Farms, the One Famous Eagle filly is out of Corona Deluxe, a winner of $168,135 in a stakes filled 21-race career. 

Bradley Hart’s juvenile Kindigit will head the fifth race of the night, while Juan Moya and Cesar Nunez’s young runner Smokin Cartel will head the sixth. Kindigit posted the fastest of 25 drills on March 7 and then had the fourth fastest of 47 drills on March 21. Kindigit is a full brother to stakes winner Pandorum. Smokin Cartel had top workout times on both March 7 and March 21. The Corona Cartel colt is a half-brother to  Captain Strawfly, the winner of the 2013 Grade 2 Dash For Cash Derby.
