Zoomin Effortlessly, Jessies First Down Resume Rivalry in All American Gold Cup

The two multiple Grade 1 winners will square off Sunday at Ruidoso Downs.

Longtime rivals Zoomin Effortlessly and Jessies First Down are among the 10 aged sprinters entered in Sunday's 440-yard, $200,000 All American Gold Cup (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.

Zoomin Effortlessly and Jessies First Down, the reigning world champion, finished first and second, respectively, in last year's All American Gold Cup. A 6-year-old son of Zoomin For Bux trained by Edelmiro Carrizales for owner Telesforo Perrett of Houston, Zoomin Effortlessly will be making his first start since June 3, when he scored a head victory over Jessies First Down in the 440-yard, $250,000 Remington Park Invitational Championship (G1).

Zoomin Effortlessly drew post 4 and will be ridden by Santos Carrizales.

Jessies First Down is trained by Jimmy Padgett for owner Ted G. Abrams, who also lives in Houston. A 6-year-old son of champion FDD Dynasty, the gelding defeated Zoomin Effortlessly twice late last season, as he won both the 440-yard, $150,000 Zia Park Championship (G1) on November 23, and the 440-yard, $350,000 Championship at Sunland Park (G1) on December 31. In both of those races, Zoomin Effortlessly finished a close second to Jessies First Down.

Jessies First Down drew post 10 and will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo. Other contenders include Bodacious Eagle, a 5-year-old One Famous Eagle gelding trained by Trey Wood for owner Johnny Trotter of Hereford, Texas. Bodacious Eagle has won his last three starts, all against graded stakes company at Remington Park and Ruidoso Downs.

Ricky Ramirez will ride Bodacious Eagle from post 8.
