J Fire Up Draws Rail for Los Alamitos Two-Million Futurity

The homebred filly is the morning-line favorite for California's richest horse race.

J Fire Up, a homebred daughter of Kiddy Up and the second-fastest qualifier, drew the rail post for Sunday's 400-yard, $1,704,750 Los Alamitos Two-Million Futurity (G1) at Los Alamitos Racecourse.

Racing for Darling Farms, Ernesto Solis, and trainer Jaime Gomez, J Fire Up has earned $714,962 from eight starts, and her six wins include a three-quarter length victory in the 350-yard, $390,000 Governor's Cup Futurity (RG2) on July 29, and a nose victory in the 400-yard, $939,000 Golden State Million Futurity (G1) on November 5.

J Fire Up is coming off of a wire-to-wire, 1 1/4-length win in one of 10 "Deuce" trials on November 26. The 8-5 morning-line favorite, the filly will be ridden by Jose Nicasio.

Other contenders include Reliance Ranches' Call Me Cole, a sorrel son of Corona Cartel trained by Mike Robbins, and EG High Desert Farms' Matilda Czech, a homebred daughter of Fast Prize Cartel trained by Valentin Zamudio. A finalist in the Golden State Million, Call Me Cole has banked $43,450 from six outs, and the colt is coming off of a clear 2 1/4-length victory in his Los Alamitos Two-Million Futurity trial.

Call Me Cole, the fastest qualifier, drew post 10 and will be ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala.

Matilda Czech has earned $187,509 from eight outs, all at Los Alamitos, and her resume includes a half-length victory as the 9-5 favorite in the 350-yard, $25,000 California Breeders' Freshman Fillies Stakes (R) on July 29. The filly's resume includes a second-place finish to J Fire Up in the Golden State Million.

Cruz Mendez will ride Matilda Czech from post 7.
