Retama Park Meet Opens with Selma Stakes
Recent stakes winner Brookside draws the outside post for Friday's opening-night feature.

Brookside, a homebred 4-year-old Brookstone Bay mare and a stakes winner during the Sam Houston Race Park meet, is one of 10 distaffers entered in Friday’s 350-yard, $20,000 Selma Stakes, the feature race on Retama Park’s 10-race opening-night program.
Trained by Leon Bard for owner Linda Tobias, Brookside is coming off of a wire-to-wire victory in the 400-yard, $28,000 Merial Texas Distaff Challenge Stakes on April 22. The mare brings a three-race win streak into the Selma.
Brookside drew post 10 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.
