Twenty-six 3-year-old colts and geldings are entered in Sunday's El Primero del Ano Derby trials at Los Alamitos.

Katella Deli, a Grade 1-placed son of Foose campaigned by Dutch Masters III and Paul Blanchard of Albuquerque, is one of 26 3-year-old colts and geldings entered in Sunday's El Primero del Ano Derby (G3) trials at Los Alamitos.

A $40,000 buy at the 2015 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Katella Deli is trained by Jaime Gomez. The California-bred gelding is coming off of a sixth-place finish, one length behind winner Imaqtpie, in the 400-yard, $225,000 Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G1) on February 11.

Katella Deli's resume also includes a third-place run in last year's Grade 1, 400-yard Los Alamitos Two-Million Futurity. Carlos Huerta will ride Katella Deli from post 4 in the first of three trials.

Trainer Roberto Dominguez will send out Renewed, the 9-5 morning-line favorite in the second heat, for owner Kolleen Ledgerwood. A sorrel son of Walk Thru Fire, the colt has earned $70,785 from seven outs -- all at Los Alamitos -- and he was a finalist in last year's $1,016,000 Golden State Million Futurity (G1).

Jonathan Roman will ride Renewed from post 8.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the April 2 El Primero del Ano Derby final.
