Graded stakes winners Duponte and Eye N Capo are among the 52 3-year-olds entered in Sunday’s 400-yard Heritage Place Derby (G2) trials at Remington Park.

Duponte will be making his season debut from post 8 in the first of six trials. A sorrel son of American Runaway trained by Josue Ponce for owners Bobby D. Cox, Homero Paredes and Kristin Parades, Duponte is coming off of a 2-year-old campaign during which the homebred colt earned $647,034 from eight outs and scored a one-length victory in the 350-yard, $1.083-million Heritage Place Futurity (G1).

Rodrigo Vallejo will ride Duponte on Sunday.

Eye N Capo races for Ruben Garcia Montemayor from the barn of trainer Erika Huitron. A sorrel son of Capo de Capi won all four of his races last season, and his two stakes wins included a one-length victory as the fastest qualifier and 3-2 favorite in the 400-yard, $385,000 Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) at Lone Star Park.

Eye N Capo drew post 7 and will be ridden by Damian Martinez in the second heat. His seven opponents in the second trial include Apollitical Scout, an Apollitical Jess filly trained by Clint Crawford for owners Preston and Karen Cloud of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Apollitical Scout is coming off of a victory against Oklahoma-bred 3-year-olds in the 400-yard, $305,000 Remington Park Derby (RG3) on April 22.

Omar Reyes will ride Apollitical Scout from post 6.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the June 3, $375,000-est. Heritage Place Derby final.
