Jess Ravin, a homebred 4-year-old Corona Cartel mare racing for Enrique Gonzalez's EG High Desert Farms, is the 4-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday's 350-yard, $25,000 Miss Princess Handicap (G3) at Los Alamitos.
Trained by Yanet Rodriguez, Jess Ravin will attempt to become only the 67th horse in the 66-year history of Los Alamitos to win six stakes races at the track. Currently, the mare is one of only 98 horses to win five stakes at the track, which held its first meet in 1951.
Jess Ravin has won three of her last four starts, including the November 19, 400-yard Las Damas Handicap (G3). An earner of $128,691 from 14 outs, the mare drew post 8 and will be ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala.
Spackman Racing's Time For Jess, a Grade 1-placed 4-year-old Apollitical Jess mare trained by Lin Melton, drew post 7 and will be ridden by Carlos Huerta. The runner-up in last year's Miss Princess, ran third, one length behind winner Big Lew, in last year's 400-yard, $768,000 Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1).
