Parsons Ranch's A Political Lady, a homebred sorrel daughter of Apollitical Jess, is one of 19 3-year-olds entered in Sunday's 400-yard Golden State Derby (G2) trials at Los Alamitos.

A Political Lady has won her last six starts, and her four stakes wins during the streak include a 1 1/4-length victory in the 400-yard, $184,000 La Primera del Ano Derby (G3) for sophomore fillies on March 30. The filly drew post 2 and will be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio for trainer Chris O'Dell in the second of two trials.

Reliance Ranches' SC Vapor Trail returns to Los Alamitos after a five-race stretch during which the homebred Corona Cartel filly raced at Prairie Meadows, Remington Park, and Ruidoso Downs. Trained by Mike Robbins, SC Vapor Trail has won four of 12 outs and has banked $94,705, and her three wins in five races at Los Alamitos include a wire-to-wire, half-length score in last year's 350-yard, $44,000 John Deere California Juvenile Challenge.

Jesus Ayala will ride SC Vapor Trail from the rail post in the first heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 19, $221,300 Golden State Derby final.
