Rockin J Running Horses' Rock About It drew post 8 for Saturday's 550-yard, $20,000 Brigand Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.
A 4-year-old son of Rock Solid Jess trained by Tammy Kay Johnson, Rock About It has won both of his starts at the 550-yard distance, including the March 17, $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Stakes (G3) at Remington Park. The gelding will be making his first start since June 2, when he ran sixth, three lengths behind winner and two-time world champion Jessies First Down, in the 440-yard, $250,000 Remington Park Invitational Championship (G1).
Rock About It will be ridden by Jaime Leos. His seven opponents include Richard Joneson's Tang, a 6-year-old Furrtreeous mare trained by Bernard Baca. Tang has won two of her last three outs, all at the 550 trip, including an allowance-optional claiming race at Ruidoso Downs on July 21.
Tang drew post 7 and will be ridden by Benito Baca.
