Political Attraction Headlines Grade 1, $200,000 All American Gold Cup

The lone 3-year-old in the field, the Apollitical Jess gelding is the 3-1 morning-line favorite.

Political Attraction, a 3-year-old son of Apollitical Jess owned by Rogelio Marquez Jr. and Kathy Robinson, heads a field of 10 sprinters entered in Sunday's 440-yard, $200,000 All American Gold Cup Stakes (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.

Trained by Marcos Carrizales, Political Attraction is coming off of a one-length victory as the 8-5 favorite in the 440-yard, $802,000 Rainbow Derby (G1) on July 21. The gelding has won his last three starts, including the 400-yard, $70,000 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park in May.

Political Attraction drew post 3 and will be ridden by James Flores.

Double A Ranch Inc.'s Paint My Pilot, a graded stakes winner during the current Ruidoso meet, drew post 2 and will be ridden by Yordanis Amaro for trainer Jorge L. Gonzalez. A 4-year-old stallion by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, Paint My Pilot will be stretching out in distance off of his head victory in the 400-yard, $50,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes (G2) on August 4.
