Seven 3-year-olds have been entered in Saturday's $25,000 Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap at Los Alamitos.

Hard Headed Chick, a homebred stakes-winning daughter of Hard Hitting owned by John Firth, is one of seven 3-year-olds entered in Saturday's 350-yard, $25,000 Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap at Los Alamitos.

Hard Headed Chick is trained by Lin Melton, and the filly is coming off of a head victory as the 3-2 favorite in the 350-yard, $25,000 California Breeders' Debutante Stakes (R) on July 28.

"She’s shown us a lot, but we just couldn’t knock down a win until the Debutante,” Firth said. “I’ve never owned a horse that’s been this good. We’re having a great time.

"I’ve been around a lot of great horses (at Firth Ranch) like Moonist, AJS Anna Smoke, One Proud Eagle for the clients, but it’s special to finally get one of my own that can run a little bit," he added.

Hard Headed Chick drew post 3 and will be ridden by Jesus Ayala.

The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey and weight assignments and morning-line odds:
Famous N Hot (Jose Nicasio, 122), 3-1
Mcfarland Usa (Ramon Sanchez, 120), 8-1
Hard Headed Chick (Jesus Ayala, 124), 7-2
