Q-Racing Journal

Nine fillies and mares have been entered in Saturday's Denim N Diamonds Handicap at Los Alamitos.

Strawfinders Jessee, a homebred 5-year-old mare owned by C.K. Allen Jr. and Laurel M. Allen, is one of nine distaffers entered in Saturday's 350-yard, $35,000 Denim N Diamonds Handicap at Los Alamitos.

Strawfinders Jesse will be shortening in distance off her third-place finish, a neck behind winner Kiddy Up Cowgirl, in the 400-yard, $100,000 Charger Bar Handicap (G1) on January 7. The 2-1 morning-line favorite, the mare drew post 4 and will be ridden by Cesar DeAlba for trainer John Cooper.

Other contenders include Jess Mas, a homebred 4-year-old One Sweet Jess mare trained by Elena Andrade for owners Steve D. Burns and Oscar Andrade. Jess Mas has won four of 19 starts, all at Los Alamitos, and she has banked $164,117, and her sophomore resume included a fourth-place finish, one length behind winner Chazaq, in the 400-yard, $956,000 Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1).
