He Is The Risingstar, one of the nation's best 550-yard horses, is one of seven aged runners entered in Sunday's 550-yard, $20,000 Barbra B Handicap at Los Alamitos.
Trained by Paul Jones for owner Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches, He Is The Risingstar has won five of his seven starts at this distance, including last year's Barbra B on a sloppy and sealed track. The 6-year-old gelded son of Mr Jess Perry will be making his first start since October 7, when he ran sevent, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner Cobalt Creek, in the 440-yard, $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1) at Lone Star Park.
He Is The Risingstar drew post 5 and will be ridden by Cesar DeAlba.
Jones will also send out contender Chicks Fayvorite, a homebred 5-year-old Favorite Cartel gelding who will be making his first-ever start at the 550 trip. Owned by Martha F. "Mimi" Wells, Chicks Fayvorite is coming off of a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Katies Easy Moves, in the 400-yard, $30,000 First Down Dash Handicap on December 9.
Chicks Fayvorite will be ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala from the rail post.
