Champion Zoomin For Spuds Headlines Grade 3 Kaweah Bar

The 5-year-old drew post 8 for Saturday's feature at Los Alamitos.

Zoomin For Spuds, a homebred 5-year-old gelding owned by Jim Walker, drew post 8 for Saturday's 350-yard, $30,000 Kaweah Bar Handicap (G3) at Los Alamitos.

Zoomin For Spuds is trained by Monty Arrossa, and the Idaho-bred Zoomin For Bux gelding has been made the even-money morning-line favorite by Los Alamitos oddsmaker Ed Burgart. The sport's champion 3-year-old gelding in 2016, Zoomin For Spuds' season resume includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner BH Lisas Boy, in the 400-yard, $157,000 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1) on February 11.

Zoomin For Spuds will be ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala.

Rancho el Cabresto's Mr Apollitical Dash, a graded stakes winner during his sophomore campaign, will make just his second career start against aged sprinters in the Kaweah bar. A homebred 4-year-old Mr Jess Perry stallion trained by Juan Aleman, Mr Apollitical Dash ended his 2017 season with an upset victory at odds of 29-1 in the 400-yard, $175,000 Southern California Derby (G2).

Mr Apollitical Dash drew post 2 and will be ridden by Carlos Huerta.
