Last year's champion 3-year-old, Hold Air Hostage will make his first-ever start against aged runners in Saturday's Sooner State Stakes at Remington Park.

A field of eight Oklahoma-breds, headed by morning-line favorite Hold Air Hostage, has been entered in Saturday's 400-yard, $100,000 Sooner State Stakes (RG1) at Remington Park.

A 4-year-old son of Apollitical Jess trained by Jimmy Padgett for owner Darling Farms, Hold Air Hostage will make his season debut from post 2. The sorrel gelding is coming off of a sophomore campaign during which he won three graded stakes, including the 440-yard, $1.15-million Rainbow Derby (G1), and the 440-yard, $1.366-million All American Derby (G1), both at Ruidoso Downs. He earned $1,200,939 from eight outs and was voted AQHA champion 3-year-old.

Rodrigo Vallejo will ride Hold Air Hostage in the Sooner State Stakes. The gelding's seven opponents include Nueve Racing's Apollitical Chad, a 4-year-old Apollitical Jess gelding trained by Wes Giles. Apolltical Chad ended his sophomore season with a three-race win streak that included a neck victory in the 440-yard, $384,000 Texas Classic Derby (G1) at Lone Star Park.

Apolltical Chad drew post 6 and will be ridden by G.R. Carter Jr.
