Friday's eight-race program at Arapahoe Park consists of trials for the Rocky Mountain Derby and Futurity.

Captain Force, a graded stakes winning Captain Captain Courage colt owned by Pedro Andazola, is one of 32 sophomores entered in Friday’s 350-yard Rocky Mountain Derby trials at Arapahoe Park.

Captain Force will be making his season debut off of a 2-year-old campaign during which he earned $85,512 from five starts and scored a three-quarter length victory in the November 11, $283,000 Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship (RG3) at Will Rogers Downs. The colt drew post 2 and will be ridden by Edwuin Lujan for trainer Hipolito Michel-Valverde in the fourth of five trials.

Captain Force’s six opponents in the fourth heat include Dominate This, a graded stakes placed Dominyun gelding trained by Lorenzo Campuzano for owner Angel Villalobos-Hernandez. Dominate This ships in from New Mexico, where the gelding ran second, a neck behind winner Wagon On Fire V, in the March 31, 400-yard West Texas Derby (G3) at Sunland Park.

Dominate This drew post 7 and will be ridden by Mark Jasso.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $55,000-est. Rocky Mountain Derby final on June 16.

Also on Friday, 21 2-year-olds have been entered in the 330-yard Rocky Mountain Futurity trials.

Jonathan Zambrano’s James Foose, a gelded son of champion Foose trained by David Palafox, drew the rail post and will be ridden by Manuel Meza in the third of three trials. James Foose has earned $5,928 from two starts, and he ships in from Remington Park, where he won a 300-yard Oklahoma Futurity (G3) trial in his career debut on March 10.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the June 16, $90,000-est. Rocky Mountain Futurity final.
