Mickey Ward Headlines 550-yard Barbra B

The gelding is the morning-line favorite for Los Alamitos' Sunday feature.

Mickey Ward, a homebred 8-year-old son of champion Fdd Dynasty racing for Ralph and Carolyn Fales, is the 5-2 morning-line favorite for Sunday's 550-yard, $20,000 Barbra B Stakes at Los Alamitos.

Mickey Ward ended his 2018 campaign with a wire-to-wire victory in the 870-yard, $100,000 Cox Ranch Distance Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos on November 17. Trained by Matt Fales, the gelding has won seven of 21 starts, including two of five at the 550 distance, and he has earned $122,091.

Mickey Ward drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jesus Ayala.

Greg Torgerson's Joe Legacy, an 8-year-old Brookstone Bay gelding, drew post 6 and will be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio for trainer Jose Hernandez Jr. Joe Legacy won three of eight starts in 2018, including the 400-yard, $16,000 John Ward Handicap at Los Alamitos.
