South Dakota horseman Dean Johnson to receive award.

Horseman Dean Johnson of Vale, South Dakota, will be honored with the Horse Person of the Year award at the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Johnson is an AQHA Professional Horseman, is an affiliate president, AQHA director and a member of the AQHA ranching committee. He is very active on both a state and national level, and is one of the many volunteers working to improve and increase ranching events in South Dakota.

The Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo is the second largest event in the state of South Dakota, following the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. An estimated 330,000 people attend the 10 day event every year, and provide an economic impact near $22 million.

The Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo is January 12 through February 3. The new award will be presented to Johnson during the Stockman’s Banquet and Ball, which will be held on Saturday, January 27.
