An upcoming Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge is slated for September 16, with barrel racing on September 23 in Amarillo during the Tri-State Fair.

The Tri-State Fair presents the Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge at the Bill Cody Arena with buckles, donated by Elaine Smith Ranches, plus jackpot, barrel racing and team roping classes and other prizes.

Coverage of the event will be provided by The American Quarter Horse Journal at www.aqha.com/ranching.

Entries are due September 1.

“The Ranching Heritage Challenges highlight the versatility, soundness and willing attitude of American Quarter Horses that are ranch-born and-raised,” said Pete Kyle, AQHA chief show officer. “Not only do the Challenges showcase ranch-raised horses, they also offer competitors significant purses and prizes.”

Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenges are open to any horse bred by a Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder and enrolled in the program. AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders are breeders who have been breeding American Quarter Horses for at least 10 years and whose horses are primarily bred to work on a cattle ranch.

Anyone can own and show enrolled horses in the Challenges.

The Challenges offer multiple divisions for various ages and skill levels for both horse and rider. Classes include working ranch horse and ranch riding; some Challenge events also offer team roping and barrel racing.

AQHA appreciates the generous sponsorship of Zoetis, Ford, John Deere, Nutrena and the Ranch Horse Journal in supporting these Ranching Heritage events.
