The 2018 Zoetis VRH World qualifying period was from January 1, 2017, to February 28, 2018. This year, there were 4,546 total qualifiers, a significant increase from the 1,119 qualifiers in 2017. Qualifiers are able to compete for the all-around Versatility Ranch Horse title or in the individual VRH classes at the 2018 Zoetis VRH World.

To be eligible for the 2018 Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Finals, Challenge-enrolled horses must have competed in at least one of the six Ranching Heritage Challenges in 2017. The qualifying period was January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2017. This year, 424 qualified for the finals, up nearly 100 from 327 qualifiers in 2017.

New this year, AQHA combined the AQHA Level 1 Championships cattle classes with the Zoetis VRH World and Zoetis RHC Finals. The Level 1 Cattle Championships will offer cutting, boxing, working cow horse, heading, heeling, tie-down roping, breakaway roping and ranch riding. Ranch riding will also be offered at all three of the Level 1 Championships; however, exhibitors may only compete in ranch riding at one of the four events.
