Adult or Tour Bus Groups
We offer a brief welcome orientation when guests arrive to then allow exploration in the Museum at their own pace. Please make group reservations at least two weeks prior to your arrival by contacting the Hall of Fame at 806-376-5181 or museum@aqha.org. The following rates are per person for groups of 10 or more:
- Adults & Seniors: $7
- Children (6-18): $3
- Children (5 & under): Free
- Escorts: Free*
- Drivers: Free*
*Escort & Driver price excludes large families; all other rates apply.
Schools
Everything we learn doesn’t have to be taught straight from a textbook or only in the classroom; bring it to life in a museum! The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum invites you to come learn about the horse that settled the West! A trip to the Museum brings stories to life. This guide will help prepare educators of public, private and home schools for an exciting, guided field trip.
The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum offers guided tours for school groups according to the following guidelines:
- When: Tuesday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (excluding holiday hours)

Reservations: School group reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Please contact the Museum at 806-376-5181 to schedule your visit.

Cancelations: The museum must be informed of a cancelation 48 hours in advance.

Time: 1 – 1.5 hours for group of 65 or less

Thanks to the generosity of the Allsup Family Foundation, we are able to offer schools and homeschool groups FREE student admission and bus reimbursement. This is in effort to help facilitate costs when planning a visit to the museum.

Note: One adult (teachers and required supervising adults) per 10 students is covered by the grant. Please inform any additional adults will need to pay the required admission, which can be paid at the admissions desk upon arrival at the museum.

All of the following programs are TEKS approved or can be accommodated to your curriculum needs.

Kindergarten to 1st Grade: Saddle Up with Horse Care Basics

Students will learn what it takes to take care of an American Quarter Horse while preparing it for a trail ride! They will learn the basic needs such as food, water, shelter, and space to have a healthy horse. Students will then prep their mop pony for a trail ride through the museum. This program is designed to accommodate 65*** students at a time.

2nd to 5th Grade: Pieces of a Partnership

Students will embark on a hands-on journey to discover what it takes to build a meaningful and unique connection with horses. They will explore core values and essential elements that form strong bonds not only with horses but also with friends. In learning this, students are then going to work together to solve a large 24- or 32- piece polygon puzzle (8' x 8'). Can accommodate 40*** students at a time.

2nd to 12th Grade: Branding Roundup

The American Quarter Horse was known for its ranching abilities in the 1800's during the cattle drives. Students will learn the history, the function of cattle drives, and reading brands when out on the trails. They will then have the opportunity to create their own brand by exploring our Hall of Fame timeline to gather inspiration from other ranches. Can accommodate 80*** students at a time.

2nd to 12th Grade: Chisholm Trail

Take your students on an interactive journey down the Chisholm Trail to discover how the American Quarter Horse helped the American West. This field trip, designed for grades 2–12, features hands-on, grade-specific activities that bring cowboy life to the classroom and museum floor. From packing trail supplies and writing letters from the saddle to uncovering historical artifacts and tackling teamwork challenges, students experience the grit, ingenuity, and partnership between horse and rider that defined the trail.

2nd to 12th Grade: STEAM Horse Anatomy Activity

This STEAM-based activity invites students to explore the anatomy of the American Quarter Horse through hands-on learning. Participants assemble different parts of a horse model to discover how form and function work together in this remarkable breed. Through this activity, students strengthen problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, and an understanding of biological systems, all while engaging in creative and critical thinking.
