SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

AQHA is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill our systems administrator position with the America Quarter Horse Association. This positions is located at the international headquarters in Amarillo, TX.

Position Summary:

The system administrator role is responsible for implementation, support, security, and operations of infrastructure platforms used within AQHA. Platforms may include, but are not limited to, servers (virtual or physical), storage, network devices, communication platforms, security devices and related software. Provide support to tier 1 for issues requiring next level analysis and resolution. Assist with connectivity, proper security profiles, and authentication to core services. Develop and document processes for infrastructure services to support resolving technical requests. Ensure data is protected on all system via regular backups. Monitor system jobs for proper operation and solve for exceptions.

Essential Functions:

Maintain the operational integrity of end-user access to infrastructure service
Protect AQHA technical assets via ensuring proper access privileges per user account
Ensure backups of all data is performed per expected design and schedule
Administer accounts for activation, group membership, disablement, and removal
Assist peer administrators with tasks related to infrastructure services
Assist tier 1 as both capacity and for next level support in technical assistance and access to services
Identify root cause for incidents when applicable and develop remediation to avoid recurrence
Support DevOps team as needed with access to services and configuration
Log all activity in service request platform
Implement changes to infrastructure services per change management process and schedule
Participate in project efforts requiring infrastructure efforts
Expand knowledge through cross training on all services as possible
Assist with show services via support of event management platforms
Support maintaining security policy across AQHA
Support the systems environment and other development as needed.
Communicate proactively to report status, progress, issues, and findings

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

 

Knowledge of technology hardware and software, including applications, programming, and configuration.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, other office procedures and terminology.
Understanding of the interaction of components from OSI layer 1 to layer 7
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, Microsoft Office, Exchange, SCCM and other Microsoft products.
Functional knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
Knowledge of IT security practices, policy, and platforms.

Experience And Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field preferred
Demonstrated experience in supporting end users on Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, and related applications
Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems, active direction, group policy, and other server administration tools
Knowledge of Veeam Backup Solutions.
Knowledge of Storage platforms

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

 

AQHA is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill our database administrator position with the American Quarter Horse Association.  This position is located in the international headquarters in Amarillo, TX.


Position Summary:

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of all applications. This position will also be involved in the planning and development of database platforms as well as troubleshooting any issues. This role will create and maintain maintenance plans, performance tuning, and advise programmers on improving database performance. They will proactively monitor mission critical servers 24/7 to ensure data integrity and reliability.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production state

  • New database creation and initial data loads

  • Mapping out the conceptual design for a planned database

  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

  • Installing, testing, and upgrading new versions of the DBMS

  • Maintaining data standards, including adherence to all applicable data protection laws.

  • Be responsible for the integrity of production test and QA database environments

  • Develop utilities for monitoring and evaluating data quality

  • Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions (metadata)

  • Database monitoring and performance tuning to ensure high levels of performance and availability

  • Backups and recovery

  • Server and database security

  • Enable replication and clustering of databases as needed

  • Index management and optimization

  • Deploy database change scripts provided by co-workers or third-parties

  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Transact SQL (TSQL)

  • Command level experience with SQL Server 2012 and up

  • SQL Server HA (high availability)

  • SQL Server Replication

  • SQL Server Database Mirroring

  • Windows and SQL Server Clustering

  • MySQL

  • Extensive knowledge of SQL, including programming and ways to optimize SQL code

  • Strong SQL query and database tuning skills

  • Experience with database backups and disaster recovery

  • Experience in a 24X7 production environment

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

  • Passion for learning and using new technologies

  • Understanding of hardware performance, memory, and I/O

  • Understanding of LINQ, Entity Framework, NHibernate, or other ORM tools is a plus

  • Scripting languages a plus

Experience And Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience

5 years in-depth experience in the design, administration, programming, and support of RDBMSs (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) in one or more computing environments (e.g., Unix, z/OS, Windows, Linux, Web).

ACCOUNTING MANAGER

AQHA is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill our accounting manager position with the American Quarter Horse Association.  This position is located at the international headquarters in Amarillo, TX.

Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing assigned accounting functions within the Finance Department. This includes assisting senior-level management and accounting staff of the Finance Department with accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting, as well as coordinating the complete process of preparing, reviewing, and publishing financial reports. This role also serves as a consultant for managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information and working with managers to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for supervising the accounting procedures of the company.

  • Review and ensure the accuracy of the work of the Finance Department.

  • Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting.

  • Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance.

  • Advise management on matters of fiscal procedure and importance for the organization.

  • Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization.

  • Works with confidential data, which, if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect.

  • Responsibilities include supervising, assigning, reviewing, and participating in the work of employees responsible for accounting and financial reporting or maintenance of the general ledger.

  • Ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.

  • Perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

  • Analyze and resolve complex financial issues and prepare complex financial statements.

  • Perform complex financial analysis and account reconciliations.

  • Review/approve/post journal entries, prepare and interpret financial reports.

  • Serve as an Accounting liaison to internal and external customers.

Experience and Education:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

  • Certified Public Accountant credential preferred.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

AQHA is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill our Senior Accountant position with the American Quarter Horse Association.  This position is located at the international headquarters in Amarillo, TX.

Position Summary:

Performs complex professional level accounting duties, including general ledger reconciliation, financial reporting, audit preparation, month end close, year-end close, and tax filings. Performs complex financial analysis for various programs and performs a variety of professional accounting functions relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees and participates in professional accounting activities, including general ledger reconciliation, financial reporting, budgeting, auditing; month end close; year-end close; and tax filings.

  • Reviews and analyzes various records and reports; responds to inquiries and provides exceptional customer service to those within and outside the department.

  • Reviews ledgers, registers, journals, logs, and related financial record keeping documents; ensures compliance with established accounting standards, practices, and procedures; makes corrections and adjustments; and balances accounts, departments, and business units.

  • Oversees a variety of accounts and general ledgers; and prepares monthly fiscal reports and special reports relating to the progress in assigned account areas.

  • Reviews financial system reports for revenues and expenses, and makes corrections and adjustments.

  • Monitors and balances various accounts, including verifying availability of funds and classification of expenses; researches and analyzes transactions to resolve problems; and controls and reconciles modified accrual and accrual ledgers.

  • Reconciles subsystems data to official general ledger; researches out of balance and other identified variances; and prepares recommendations to correct any issues.

  • Assists in the preparation of the monthly financial statements; prepared by client schedules for the annual audit; and the annual financial report.

  • Provides assistance to external auditors in support of the annual and special audits; and prepares response to audit findings and resolutions.

  • Serves as the liaison with departments and operating units of the organization; provides assistance to staff in matters relating to financial accounting and budgeting.

  • Attends and participates in a variety of group meetings and seminars.

  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the Employee Handbook.

  • Prepare journal entries on a reoccurring basis for the Association, Foundation, Racing Challenge, ARC, Q Technology Services, and the Ranching Heritage Program financial statements and reconciliation of the income statements and balance sheets on both a modified accrual and accrual basis.

  • Performs year-end procedures including audit, tax, and consolidation work papers.

  • Verify Texas Sales and Use Tax Returns, Canadian Goods and Services Tax Returns, and reimbursement and year-end reports for USLGE – FAS.

  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.

  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.

Experience and Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field and three years of increasingly responsible accounting experience.

AQHA is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill our registration data entry clerk position with the American Quarter Horse Association.  This position is located at the international headquarters in Amarillo, TX.

Position Summary:

Operate data entry device, such as keyboard or scanner, to process all aspects of registering American Quarter Horses.  Duties may include verifying data and preparing materials for printing.

Essential Functions:

  • Read source documents and enter data in specific data fields for subsequent entry, using keyboards or scanners. 
  • Compile, sort and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered. 
  • Compare data with source documents, or re-enter data in verification format to detect errors. 
  • Store completed documents in appropriate locations. 
  • Locate and correct data entry errors, or report them to supervisors. 
  • Maintain logs of activities and completed work.

AQHA is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill our customer care representative positions with the American Quarter Horse Association.  This position is located at the international headquarters in Amarillo, TX.

Position Summary:

Interact with customers to provide information in response to inquiries about programs, products and services and to handle and resolve complaints by answering incoming direct line telephone calls, e-mail and social media.  Assist customer if possible or route calls to appropriate department.

Essential Functions:

  • Confer with customers by telephone or in person to provide information about products or services, take or enter orders, cancel accounts, or obtain details of complaints. 
  • Review customer requests, complete work and generate final documents.
  • Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments, as well as actions taken. 
  • Resolve customers' service or billing complaints by performing activities such as exchanging records, refunding money, or adjusting bills. 
  • Complete customer request forms, prepare and complete change of address records, or assist to complete documents, using computers. 
  • Refer unresolved customer grievances to designated departments for further investigation. 
  • Determine charges for services requested, collect deposits or payments, or arrange for billing. 
  • Solicit sales of new or additional services or products. 
  • Obtain and examine all relevant information to assess validity of complaints and to determine possible causes.

  • Perform duties for other departments as required. Must be able to work proficiently at the reception desk and switchboard desks. Includes meeting and greeting the public, managing entrances and incoming multiple telephone lines.
