Southwesterly, a stakes-winning daughter of the Favorite Trick (TB) stallion Favorite Cartel, is one of 28 3-year-olds entered in Wednesday's 350-yard Arizona QRA Spring Derby trials at Turf Paradise.

A $37,000 yearling purchase at the 2021 Los Alamitos Equine Sale in California, Southwesterly will be making her sophomore season debut off of a 2022 campaign during which she earned $55,451 from four races and scored a neck victory in the 350-yard, $91,000 John Deere Arizona Juvenile Challenge Stakes at Arizona Downs. The gray filly is trained by John Allred for owners Scott McDaniel and Justin Hastings.

Southwesterly drew post 3 and will be ridden by Martin Osuna in the last of three trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $30,000-added AQRA Spring Derby final.
