Amarillis blossomed in the $512,269 Black Gold Fillies Futurity Championship (G3) at Will Rogers Downs on November 11.
The sorrel filly by Favorite Cartel earned her first stakes win in a big way. Under Cody Smith, she gained control midway in the 400-yard race and powered to the front by a half length in :20.092. For the win she earned $204,907, bringing her career record to four wins from seven starts and earnings of $233,375 for owner Dusty Rose Ranch LLC. She began her racing career in March, but found her stride in this fall, as she broke her maiden in September and has gone undefeated ever since, capturing an allowance and then her trial before this stakes win.
The Stacey Capps-trained filly was followed across the line by Flying Policy 123, Ruse Ticle Knockout, Chew Bac Cah, Relentless Knockout, Electrifiying, Miss Relentless, Jessika James, The Cowboy Chick and Eehdith.
Bred by M C Stucks, Amarillis is out of the Dominyun mare Astranomical, herself a Grade 2-winning earner of $130,426 on the racetrack.
