The two longest shots in the field nearly hit the wire together in Sunday’s $245,800 Energy Downs Futurity at Energy Downs 307 Racing. The photo revealed that Mike Isom’s homebred MI Leaving You, at odds of 40-1, prevailed by a head over Eddie Jensen’s MV Paint Me Jess, who went off at 34-1. MI Leaving You was ridden by Jose Olivo for trainer Kylie Valenzuela and clocked 300 yards in :15.375 for a 99 speed index.

This was a maiden-breaking win for MI Leaving You, who finished second in his trial on June 1 with the sixth-fastest time. The Utah-bred filly by Coronas Leaving You ran third in her debut in a May 18 maiden race at Energy Downs. Her earnings now stand at $125,000 after three starts. She is out of the Stoli mare MI Stoli, who was a two-time winner in Idaho as a 2-year-old in her only season on the track.

MV Paint Me Jess, who finished third behind MI Leaving You in their trial, earned $36,870 for running second in the final. Bred in Wyoming by Ron and Laurie Moosman, MV Paint Me Jess is a gelding by Jess Paint Me. Cordarelton Benn rode for trainer Jess Matt.

You Got Litt Up, a Cyber Monday colt running for Jared and Dennis Woolsey, finished third.
