Double Bar S Ranch announced on social media that champion Jess You And I was laid to rest on October 1, 2024, due to complications of old age.

Jess You And I was born in 2004, a bay son of Feature Mr Jess out of the Tolltac mare Gold Daze.

He was bred and raced by Rhonda Rae and Dawn List's Double Bar S Ranch, and from 42 starts he won 19, was second five times and third six times while earning $1,851,691.

His career began in the summer of 2006, and included a victory in the Golden State Million Futurity (G1) and a fourth-place in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1).

He would also win the 2008 Go Man Go Handicap (G1), 2008 Champion of Champions (G1), 2009 Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1), 2009 Go Man Go Handicap (G1), 2010 Remington Championship Challenge (G1), 2010 Remington Park Invitational Championship (G1) and 2011 Robert L. Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship (G1).

He was named the 2006 champion 2-year-old gelding, 2008 champion aged gelding and 2008 champion aged horse.

Jess You And I spend the entirety of his retirement in luxury and passed away alongside his longtime pasture companion, Cuantemplate, a 1999 gelding by Strawfly Special who earned $28,067 on the track. Both were well cared for on behalf of their breeders for their entire retirements.
