LQHBA Louisiana Million Qualifiers

Evangeline Downs presented a full card of 11 trials on Friday for the $1-million LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1), and the fastest of the accredited Louisiana-breds came out of the fourth heat as Rogelio Marquez Jr.’s San Lorenzo Bossman rolled to a 1 ¾-length victory under jockey Leonardo Rodriguez. The Juan Garcia trainee clocked 400 yards in :19.751 for a 96 speed index.
Bred by Robicheaux Ranch Inc., San Lorenzo Bossman is a colt by Apollitical Blood who now has three wins from five starts. The colt appears to be on the improve this fall, as he also daylighted the field in his last start with a 1 ¼-length score over allowance foes on November 5 at Evangeline. The LQHBA Louisiana Million will mark his stakes debut and give him a chance to significantly increase his bankroll of $28,735.
Second-fastest qualifier RF Fast Dash N Blood brings a wealth of stakes experience to the final, as the gelding, also by Apollitical Blood, already has three stakes wins and is riding a seven-racing winning streak. Fresh off a win in the $534,640 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) on August 30 at Delta Downs, the gelding won the last trial in :19.879 with Jorge Garcia up for trainer Josue Ponce. RF Fast Dash N Blood has earned $731,989 for owner Jaime Cardenas. He was bred by Rogers Farms/Tim and Jennie Rogers and is a $80,000 graduate of the LQHBA Yearling Sale.
