The American Quarter Horse Association is pleased to announce a restructuring of its affiliations in Mexico, following a thorough evaluation of current membership and growth opportunities. This decision aims to better serve members and continue promoting the American Quarter Horse breed in Mexico.
Effective January 2025, the Asociación Mexicana de Criadores y Caballistas de Caballos Cuarto de Milla will be recognized as the official racing affiliate in Mexico. This initiative supports AQHA's goal of creating a more organized and efficient system, inspired by the successful AQHA affiliate structure in Canada.
In addition to recognizing AMCM as the racing affiliate, AQHA will initiate the application process for a new national affiliate in Mexico to enhance support and services for Mexican members. All affiliate applications will undergo comprehensive review by AQHA staff, the AQHA International Committee and the AQHA Executive Committee to ensure optimal representation and support for members.
To be considered, organizations must meet the following international affiliate requirements:
-
Provide proof of public notice inviting American Quarter Horse owners in their country to attend the organizational meeting.
-
Demonstrate the association’s activities and establishment by providing member numbers, activity reports, advertising copies, newsletters or other promotional materials.
-
Comply with all relevant government laws and regulations, and provide an English translation of their charter, articles of incorporation and bylaws or constitution.
Applicants must apply by December 31, 2024, and be prepared to present their organization at the 2025 AQHA Convention, March 28-31, 2025, at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following the review, the International Committee will recommend to the AQHA Executive Committee whether the applicant should be recognized as an official AQHA International Affiliate. If approved, the international association will be duly recognized.
If your organization meets the criteria and you have any inquiries or require additional information, please reach out to AQHA International at international@aqha.org, for details regarding the full affiliate application, requirements and guidelines.
