Owner Tom Maher and trainer Jason Olmstead had a day to remember on July 24.

They dominated with their horses sweeping the fastest qualifying times to the $80,400 Northlands Futurity and the $50,075 Canterbury Park Derby at Canterbury Park.

Relentless Rocket topped the qualifiers to the Northlands Futurity, while Shes Smoke Stacked was the fastest qualifier to the Canterbury Park Derby. They are both sired by Hes Relentless.

Olmstead saddled the top-three qualifiers among five total qualifiers from his barn in the futurity. Maher and Olmstead also had the second-fastest qualifier to the derby with Relentless Robin. Olmstead had six derby qualifiers. What a day.

Sent off as the 4-5 favorite in his Northlands Futurity trial, Relentless Rocket lived up to his backing with a dominating trial win. The colt overcame a troubled start and quickly had a daylight lead and rolled across the finish line with a two-length advantage and a :17.873 time for the 350 yards.

Relentless Rocket has found a winning home at Canterbury Park. He started his career at Remington Park with a third in his Heritage Place Futurity trial and a fourth in a maiden race. He then moved to Canterbury Park and won his maiden in his local debut by three quarters of a length. That maiden win was his start before his Northlands Futurity trial.

Mai Corona, the dam of Relentless Rocket, qualified for the Southern California Derby (G1).

The daughter of Corona Cartel also produced Relentless Babe, who placed in six stakes races, and MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity and MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity runner-up Relentless Corona. They are each full sisters to Relentless Rocket.

Second dam Babe On The Beach, a daughter of Invisible Injun, won the Costa Mesa Handicap and was second in the Golden State Futurity (G1), La Primera Del Ano Derby (G2) and the California Juvenile Challenge (G3).

Babe On The Beach is the dam of All American Derby (G1) and Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) winner Dont Let Down, along with two-time stakes winner Barefoot Beach, Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge winner (G3) De Laurentis, Sam Houston Derby (G2) runner-up Own The Waterfront and Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) third-place finisher Capitan De La Playa.

Shes Sumoke Stacked has also found the winner’s circle at Canterbury Park.

The 4-5 favorite in her Canterbury Derby trial, Shes Sumoke Stacked raced to a commanding lead by the halfway mark and then won by a half length with a :20.157 time for the 400 yards.

The filly was off the board in two starts last spring at Remington Park and then won her first out at Canterbury Park in a conditioned allowance race.

Last year, Shes Sumoke Stacked won her Black Gold Fillies Futurity trial and qualified for the finals.

First dam Sumokin, a daughter of Country Chicks Man, was a solid stakes performer with a win in the Black Gold Futurity Championship (RG3) and a second-place run in the Miss Olene Handicap (R). She qualified for the Dash For Cash Futurity (G1), Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity (R), Oklahoma Derby and the Black Gold 300 Futurity (R).

In addition to Shes Sumoke Stacked, Sumokin has produced La Fiesta Futurity and Animas Stakes winner JM Country Man, West Texas Derby (G3) runner-up Throwin Sumoke and Dash For Cash Derby (G2) third-place runner Sumokeonthewater.

Second dam Bye Bye Baby Goodbye, by Takin On The Cash, is the dam of Ruidoso Futurity (G1) winner Blue Corazon, three-time stakes winner Twisted Sifter and Futurity Mexicano second-place finisher Inspite Of Myself.

Maher and Olmstead are loaded for the Northlands Futurity and the Canterbury Park Derby. They could very well have another day to remember in their respective finals.
