Kingpyn, a Favorite Cartel colt trained by Pedro Hernandez-Pulido for owner Francisco Robles, recorded the fastest time from 13 250-yard training races on Thursday at Remington Park.

Ridden by James Flores, a three-time leading jockey at the track's spring American Quarter Horse meet, Kingpyn won the fifth schooiing race by three-quarters of a length in :13.590, a clocking accomplished with the aid of a reported 5-mph tail wind.

Kingpyn was bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox, and he was purchased by Robles for $150,000 at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The colt is out of Bovet, a winning homebred Corona Cartel mare and a finalist in the 2011 Rainbow Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs and Sam Houston Futurity (G2) at Sam Houston Race Park. His second dam, the homebred Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Genuine, won the '05 Retama Park Futurity (G1).

Remington Park's training races will resume on Wednesday, February 21. The track's 50-date spring American Quarter Horse meet opens March 7.
