Keith Bode's Jess A Flyin Train is the fastest qualifier to the October 9, $142,600 Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes (R) for state-bred 3-year-olds at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

On Wednesday, Jess A Flyin Train won the first of three 400-yard trials by a half of a length in :19.973. Edgar Diaz rode the chestnut son of Freighttrain B for trainer Claudio Barraza.

Jess A Flyin Train was winning for the first time in five races this season. The gelding was bred by Sheri Miller, and he is out of Jess Alive Bully, a stakes-winning Feature Mr Jess mare.

Raced exclusively in Indiana, Jess A Flyin Train has won two of his 11 outs and has banked $45,381. The gelding was coming off of a second-place finish in the August 31 QHRA of Indiana Stallion Service Auction Derby (R)
