R Dash Of Fire, the second-longest shot in the field at odds of 23-1, held on to a narrow victory in Saturday’s $226,000 Wyoming Bred Futurity (R) at Energy Downs 307 Racing. Trained by Jorge Garfias for owner Wagonhammer Cattle LLC, the gelding won by a head under jockey Valente Vorrath and covered 300 yards in :15.432 for a 97 speed index.
Bred by Ron and Laurie Moosman, R Dash Of Fire is a son of the stakes-placed Dash Ta Fame stallion Conn Creek out Missouri-bred Tribal Fire, by FDD Dynasty. R Dash Of Fire began his career with a runner-up effort against maiden company on May 17 at Energy Downs before posting the ninth-fastest qualifying time while winning his June 7 trial. His earning now stand at $117,480 after three starts.
Flying Rocco, a Flying Cowboy 123 gelding running for trainer Kylie Valenzuela and breeder/owner J.P. Sample, finished second as the 5-2 favorite after winning both his previous races. Eddie Jensen’s In The Vee, a gelding by Junior June Bug who won the $67,150 Bucking Horse Sale Futurity at Miles City, took third.
