Hello, my name is Grace Johnson, and I am from Olympia, Washington. I am 17 years old and have always loved horses. I spent my entire childhood convincing my parents to let me have my own horse. After I got my first horse in 2013, my next challenge was convincing my mom that I needed a second horse, and that it needed to be a foal!

I have known about the AQHA Young Horse Development program for a couple of years, and the timing was right for when I decided to apply last summer. I was waiting in line for some coffee when I read an email from AQHA saying that I had been accepted into the program, and it was so hard not to burst into happy tears! A couple of weeks later, I met my wonderful colt out at KT Ranch in Connell, Washington. His name is KT What The Hail, and I gave him the barn name of Theo.

Theo is such an amazing yearling now! He loves learning and conquers all the obstacles I throw at him. He is one of the quietest and calmest babies that I have known, and he amazes me every day at how quickly he learns something new. I am so beyond thankful for all of the amazing opportunists that this program has allowed me to have, and I am excited to continue to learn more through the AQHA Young Horse Development Program.
